Welcome to Hugh and Doris's place

If you are thinking about a holiday at CanadianFishing.com, you might like to know a little about the people who own the place.

The camp was established in 1953 by Bill Pellow and I bought it in the spring of 1963. I came to Chapleau the first time in 1960 working as a pilot for an air charter services in Northern Ontario.

In the spring of 1963 I was looking for a place on the Chapleau waterfront where I could dock a floatplane for the summer. Among the people whom I approached about this was Bill Pellow who said to me "no, I have no room for an airplane. But my business is for sale. If you were to buy it, you could do whatever you like". We agreed on the details with a handshake and Bill sold me his business even though a couple of days later someone else offered him more money. That was in April 1963. Doris joined me in 1971.

The camp is still incorporated as Pellow's Cottages Ltd., the name that I kept in memory of Bill Pellow.

In recent years we have emphasized the name of our internet address which is canadianfishing.com
