Cell Phones

Most cell phones work in Chapleau. This link will take you to the website of the local service provider http://www.tbaytel.com If your phone's software can be updated over the air, we recommend that you do that while you are still in your home area. That way your phone will recognize all of the companies with whom your provider has a reciprocal service agreement. For example, a Verizon phone's roaming table can be updated by dialing *128 (Star 128).

Pay Phone and Phone Cards

We have a pay-phone on the property which accepts major credit cards. Please note that calling cards are far cheaper to use than credit cards. We therefore recommend that you buy a Canadian phone card here in Chapleau for $5.00 (plus 0.25 tax) or ask us to pick one up for you.

Internet Access

Below is the computer work table near the wireless router.

In the computing room

High-speed wireless internet access is available free of charge right on the camp property through our WI-FI Hotspot. You have to bring your own computer. You can then go on-line if your computer is WI-FI enabled. The wireless router is located in the small building that also contains the pay-phone and library. This building is furnished with table and chairs for convenient computing. The wireless signal reaches about 300 feet from there. If you cannot receive the signal right in your cabin, simply take your laptop to the computer room.

Phone Calls Over the Internet

You can make your calls for practically no cost at all if you use Skype. You need your computer and a headset with microphone. Chances are that your computer came with a headset when you bought it. If not, you can easily buy one cheap at Wal-Mart or any electronics store. Just download Skype from skype.com and use our free internet connection.

Satellite Television

Here is the complete list of TV channels for the Canadian Expressvu satellite service. Your cabin has its own satellite receiver and although we don't subscribe to all of these channels, this list will be helpful. It is a pdf document which you can save to your laptop computer or print out before you leave home.
